Somewhere there's a ColdFusion developer sitting in his old house with fake wood paneling listening to the Beatles on 8-track, looking out the window at his 1975 Ford truck with 320,000 miles, feeling comfortable in a pair of jeans he's had since high school and a t-shirt from the days of the Carter administration, typing on his HUGE old 386 running windows 3.11, talking to an old friend on his rotary dial phone and getting ready to head down to the same bar he's gone to for Monday Night Football for the last 10 years where he doesn't even have to order to get his cheeseburger with mustard and pickles only, tater-tots and a pitcher of Bud... I know I'll get ignored...but.... Here's a novel approach...why don't we wait and see how the newly merged company handles itself...and perhaps try hard to send them well thought out suggestions to nudge them in the right direction? I'm 25, so please don't think I can't let go of the past... I really don't have much of one yet. =] I look at Adobe software and see poor, bogged down code that chokes even the most powerful PC's. I just hope they keep going with the Fireworks programs. I had never used Fireworks until about two years ago. Up until then I was a Photoshop / Image ready person. I only started using Fireworks cause I had to for my new job. However, two years later, Fireworks is by far the best web-development graphics program that I have ever used! Its just so amazing including great symbol library and tweaning animation brought over from Flash style coding. Excellent mouse over image cutting. Excellent auto shapes. Other than that the crazy ass filters that Adobe has going for it, I can't find a single thing that I find easier and faster to do in Photoshop. PLUS, image optimization is 1000 time better in Fireworks. I can get a high quality jpeg to be like 14K in Fireworks... and equivalent looking jpeg in Adobe is like 40+ K (no one else at my company can get Adobe to optimize well, even those that don't like Fireworks). Adobe, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep the fireworks programs moving forward for web developers. ...................... I hope they keep fw too, like u said, one of the biggest and best things on there is fw blows ps away in saving files much much smaller. Some things are just easier and better in fw, like look at the price boxes here http://65.36.226. 10/content/discontinued_Spools.cfm I couldnt even get them right in photoshop after 40 minutes so i opened up fw and in about 40 seconds they were done. ~Dave the disruptor~ good sites - make money getting rid of ie :) http://explorerdestroyer.com/ http://www.killbillsbrowser.com/ I just hope they keep going with the Fireworks programs. We hired a guy that loves PS.  When I watch him do tasks in PS that require more keystrokes or mouse movements than FW, it makes me chuckle. I used to love Paint Shop Pro since I came from a place where getting $ for software was a pain.  Since I switched to FW a couple of years ago, I would choose to continue using it. PS may be great for print, but it seems a bit overkill for web. I just watched the Breeze show .. and read the FAQ on the change. Don't you just love those lovely words like "outplacement" and "transition". Imagine telling your bank manager, "I'm just going through this 'transition' thing ..." hmmmmmmm I'd comment there is very little mention of CF in the speel. "How is the combined company structured?" http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/invrelations/adobeandmacromedia_faq.html No word of CF here .. unless I missed something? That Adobe guy smiles too much - would you buy a second hand car of that man?  lol Oh well, we'll see .. My tuppenth, Jenny

Jennifer Gavin-Wear wrote: > No word of CF here .. unless I missed something? I was thinking that too. Lots of mention of Flex, however.  Its pretty obvious that MM/Adobe needs to answer AJAX as a threat to how web applications are built, and Flash has been able to do this flash remoting for some time. But flash sucks to develop with (for developers) and now Flex will make more interesting interfaces to bring these to developers.    But you will still need web services for that to work, so I am surprised they are not   mentioning CF whatsoever in the Flex movies.   They simply mention that it runs on J2EE and that it will run on .Net soon as well. In the Flex examples, they show some neat widgets, but I doubt Flex will be used in big commerce sites where page loads, includes, traffic, affiliate snippets, SEO, conversion, etc are dependant on page loads. That will be interesting to see how things shake out. John McKown President/CEO Delaware.Net, Inc. We Host Fusebox
