is there a way to get into DC now short of taking a taxi? There's no Metro there still, right? What about shuttles? Anyone know? considering hitchhiking, Dana

not sure. When I lived there I drove. But it's way the hell out there though, which is why I am asking. Glad there's a shuttle... ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----

Nope, it's in the plan, along with the Tyson's Corner Orange line extension. If you haven't already booked, and have a pressing need to go into DC, land at National Airport, it's been revamped, and a lot nicer than it used to be, there's a Blue Line Metro Station right there. There is the Airport Flyer, that goes between Dulles and National Airport it'll cost ya about $40 one way, and there are a couple of Metrobus stops there. is there a way to get into DC now short of taking a taxi? Last time I flew to DC I landed at BWI and took a train down.  Had to time it right and understand that it's Amtrak on the weekneds instead of MARC (or whatever it's called) ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----

>is there a way to get into DC now short of taking a taxi? There's no >Metro there still, right? What about shuttles? Anyone know? Nope, no Metro yet, it took many years of political maneuvering to even get the project approved and take until 2015 before it gets completed. In the meantime, here's a site with some info on getting to Metro from Dulles: http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/parking_transportation_3/ground_transportation/metrorail --- Mary Jo

There's the Washington Flyer Bus and the Blue Shuttle. BTW in about 10 years the metro will be out there, but I suspect that won't help. I usually try to use Ronnie Raygun airport. Let me know when you'll arrive I can give you a lift. larry >is there a way to get into DC now short of taking a taxi? There's no >Metro there still, right? What about shuttles? I appreciate the offer! but the prices were going up like the score on a pinball machine so I grabbed the cheapest one that almost worked :) I'm coming in at BWI -- Dulles was JetBlue which wound up being slightly more and would have required driving 400 miles or so to Denver. I know the area out near BWI pretty well and will probably grab a cheap motel in Jessup or something. Still need to figure out how to get to DC in the morning, and still have not ruled out hitchhiking down Route 1, lol. If you're going to MiniMax or CF-United I may see you there. ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----

ick, no i won't get a motel in Jessup -- this flight will require going stright to the convention center. Fun. But I am sure you don't want to drive out there from Manassas. I know how far that is. I will make it happen some other way, don't worry. ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----
