GM expects the new qualifications to boost sales of the Volt in its most important market, and the company will soon begin an advertising and marketing blitz both to increase sales and further restore the image of its much-maligned hybrid-electric vehicle. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/303778/20120223/chevy-volt-california-hov-sticker-rebate-carpool.htm Good deal. If you buy a new Volt in CA, you can drive in the High Occupancy Lane with one person. Throw in the state kicking in $1500 and it's even better. Good thing CA has money to burn. J - I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. - Thomas Jefferson It's cheaper to pay a rebate on the electric car than to deal with the pollution from the gasoline and diesel engines. Clean air is a precious commodity out here. > Good deal. If you buy a new Volt in CA, you can drive in the High > Occupancy Lane with one person. "Doesn't electricity come from mostly coal burning power plants?" Sure. In other states. CA can't make their own apparently, or enough. They need to change the name anyway. It can't be the HOV lane. J - The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centers has owned the Government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson. - FDR Not out here. I've posted links demonstrating that before. Almost all of the electricity used in Alameda County, where I currently live, comes from alternative energy sources. Statewide, the most common fuels are Natural Gas, Hydro and Nuclear. Coal is used, but in steadily reduced amounts. http://energyalmanac.ca.gov/electricity/electricity_generation.html > > Doesn't electricity come from mostly coal burning power plants? I did take math. Because I took math I know that 72k is much higher than 30k. BTW, Intermountain Power Plant Utah is on of the largest coal-fired plants in the US . > > Yeah, cause 13 thousand is more than 28 thousand or 177 thousand every > day. Did you even take math? Interestingly enough, gas consumption in the US continues to fall (seven straight weeks) and the prices continue to rise. J - We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it. - Nancy Pelosi "It says half of the power comes from out of state coal burning plants." You're missing the main point. It's okay for other states to pollute their air for CA's benefit. J - That Scott down there that's running for governor of Florida. Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him. - Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa. > "I just spent $66 to fill up on about 14 gallons. Bummer." > > No doubt. Gimme a fucking break. Hmm, seems like the Gingrich's answer to $2.50 a gallon is to get rid of Chu. ?But is the overall goal to get our price? of gasoline down, asked Nunnelee. ?No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy,? Chu replied. ?We think that if you consider all these energy policies, including energy efficiency, we think that we can go a long way to becoming less dependent on oil and [diversifying] our supply and we?ll help the American economy and the American consumers.? . ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- I just bought a gently used 2007 BMW 325i with the 3 liter 6 banger. It only takes 94 octane and costs me $82.00 to fill, which is 60 L, or about 13 gal. Lasts me about a week just driving to and from work. Ouch. ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- "That's because gas prices in this country are not based on the usual dynamic of supply and demand." So true. Interesting that it has happened under two consecutive administrations ran by opposing parties. "the usual culprit blamed for price hikes is 'speculation'." It certainly is the boogey man. I think it goes deeper than that. Speculation would be easy to fix. "Gimme a fucking break." Not at the pump. J - My vow shall be to pay the national debt, to prevent a monied aristocracy from growing up around our administration that must bend to its views, and ultimately destroy the liberty of our country. - Andrew Jackson That's an awesome car! 0_0 On 1 March 2012 11:44, Medic <hofmedic@gmail.com> wrote: ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- I still prefer my MINI. (BMW 320i) As for fuel consumption in the BMW, the new 2012 328i with the 4 cylinder twin turbo engine has more power and better mpg than the older models.
