Wow.  Umm .... Is he insane?  I doubt it.  Is he a sociopath?  Likely, despite his claims otherwise. 'He insisted he was a "nice person" who was capable of empathizing with those whose lives he had ruined, but that he had chosen not to as a self-preservation technique.' That doesn't seem like something you can just turn off.  For those on here who have been in service or have been involved in combat, does it work that way?  I have heard of thinking of the enemy as not human, but isn't that something that is drilled into you, more than something you decide to just start thinking all of a sudden?
