Yeah, mine are off the charts. Normally I let them pop up because I don't get that many but I had turn turn off the popup just to get any work done today! I've read some bad reviews of ZoneAlarm.  One personal firewall that I really do like is Tiny Personal Firewall.  It's free for home use too. http://www.tinysoftware.com/pwall.php It's very powerful and surprisingly slick.  And no, I do not have any affiliation with them. I've read nothing but good reviews of ZA. That's why I opted to use it over the others. Do you have any references citing problems with ZA? I'll take a look at TPF you mentioned below, have heard about it, never checked it out though. I just installed it last night (I finally got my DSL installed -- woo hoo!!) I had about 30 alerts in less than 2 hours.  Maybe I just don't have it fully configured yet, but is this normal? We don't use ZoneAlarm but yeah, IDS logs have got nutz recently, Code Red I and II....... Quite amusing to watch actually..... There are some really badly configured and ignored  IIS boxes out there :-) best wishes,                   -= Ed If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. I would say that it is quite low. Currently Code Red is causing major problems. I think the current figure is estimated at 300,000 servers affected.
