ColdFusion Web Developer - Cambridge, MATERC (http://www.terc.edu), a research and development institution based in Cambridge, MA seeks a full-time Web Applications Specialist to design and implement innovative web applications for a cutting edge, electronic resource center and collegial network. The site will facilitate knowledge sharing and social exchange between graduate students and between faculty engaged in interdisciplinary science Ph.D. programs across the country. The site is funded by the National Science Foundation, and candidates will be joining an experienced team including two other applications developers as well as researchers and content developers. Primary Responsibilities: * executing the development/integration of functionality for existing and new web applications (about 50% of the work) * design and prototyping of new functionality (about 25% of the work) * coordinating usability testing as part of the design/development process (about 25% of the work) Job Requirements: * a minimum of 2-5 years experience developing web-based applications with Cold Fusion (both user interface and application programming) * strong experience with relational databases and SQL * strong experience with CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML * an ability to organize project from start to finish, including strong communication and documentation skills * a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years experience in developing web-based applications, preferably related to content management and/or online communities In addition, candidates should bring one or more of the following skills to the team: * using Flash/AJAX for implement rich user interfaces * prototyping methodologies for interface and process design * usage and implementation of web analytics * usage and implementation of recommender/collaborative filtering systems * experience design for social networking * experience with Object Oriented Design and Programming, particularly for Java-based web applications Salary is commensurate with experience.
