Please send your resume to: taustin@vmware.com Position Overview The Education Information Systems team provides software infrastructure and tools to training groups throughout the VMware organization. Through the development of web-based applications EIS supports the full spectrum of learning practices and processes, including Learning Management, Learning Content Management, Learning Content Delivery, Learning Portals, Learning Resources Management, Learning Evaluation and Measurement, Learning Lead Generation, Learning Communities and Collaboration, Certification & Assessment Management, and Learning Channel Enablement. In addition, the EIS team supports the VMware PSO eCommerce infrastructure and integrations between the Learning Infrastructure and enterprise applications and third party software and services. The Web Application Developer will support the all of the EIS solutions with both new and sustaining development. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented web application developer with experience writing design specifications, architecting, developing, and modifying ColdFusion web applications, conducting system testing, and tuning/troubleshooting and maintaining ColdFusion Application Servers in a Windows or Linux environment. All eligible candidates must have direct experience with the development and implementation of high volume web-based applications. The ideal candidate has experience building applications that deliver rich media via the web. Also, the ideal candidate has experience developing a learner-centric application. Responsibilities: •Design and develop new and enhanced features in any of the EIS applications •translate process and business requirements into technical specifications •develop engineering project plans prior to engaging in the development phase •develop implementation guidelines to support the build and deploy processes •provide the project manager regular project status updates •Lead design reviews and code reviews for projects where functioning as the lead developer •Participate in defect identification and resolution by helping QA design test plans and regression tests •Support the implementation process by providing knowledge transfer to EIS Services team and business owners Requirements: •5+ years of full-time ColdFusion development; no less than 3 years experience with CF6 or greater; it is strongly preferred that your most recent position relied heavily on your ColdFusion skills •5+ years of experience in applications built on HTTP, HTTPS, FTP and SMTP protocols •Knowledge of the SQL syntax should be a primary skill; In addition, the candidate must have applied experience with data modeling. Knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle is preferred •Applied experienced developing in an MVC pattern; knowledge of the common ColdFusion frameworks is a plus •Solid skills developing the web application presentation layer; the candidate must be able to demonstrate an understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Browser DOM, cross-browser deployment and best practices in web-based user experience •Experience managing development through source control is required; Perforce experience is preferred •Experience configuring and administering a web server is required (IIS or Apache) •Excellent writing and communications skills •Experience developing and using SOAP-based Web Services is preferred •Experience designing and deploying applications in a virtual server environment is preferred •Experience with Flash Forms, Flash Remoting or Flex is a plus Education •A 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field of study is required •Certified ColdFusion Developer is preferred We are looking to fill this position ASAP!
