Job Summary:
The Senior Web Applications Developer is primarily responsible for the design,
creation and maintenance of Intranet applications at Babson College. Web based
applications are the norm at Babson and this position requires an independently
minded individual to apply their skills to provide a truly world-class
environment for the Students, Faculty, and Staff. The Senior Web Applications
Developer will lead small project teams, gather requirements, and design, build,
and implement web-based applications to support the goals of the College. They
will work on (and occasionally lead) cross-functional teams and be
self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, able to meet deadlines and dedicated
to the creation of great solutions to complex problems.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, implement, and maintain web-based applications to support the
administrative and academic programs of the college.
• Develop appropriate functional designs based upon requirements provided by
business units.
• Develop technical designs based upon functional designs.
• Lead small project teams, manage project schedules, and act as liaison between
business offices and project team.
• Stay current on new technologies and promote appropriate usage by acting as a
mentor for other members of the development team.
• Participate as a key member of the cross-functional design and development team
through all phases of the software development project cycle.
• Help plan and implement applications components such as authentication,
workflow, and notification services.
• Help plan and implement user interface and coding standards.
• Research and analyze college systems and business processes to solve technical
support and development issues.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Level of Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
Minimum Level of Experience Required:
5-7 years
Additional Required Skills and Abilities:
• Fluency in Macromedia ColdFusion MX
• Fluency in Javascript
• Experience dealing with scalability, security, reliability and maintenance
issues
• Ability to work independently and, with little supervision, further the goals
and mission of the development team
• Working knowledge of source code control
• Working knowledge of Java and/or .NET
• Working knowledge of J2EE is a plus
• Experience with the Fusebox framework is a plus
• Graphic design experience is a plus
• Entrepreneurial
