Senior ColdFusion Developer
Role: To develop components for the Epoq Legal Engine (ELE), Epoq’s web
application.
Reports to: Head of Web Development

utilising cutting-edge document-automation technology and other integrated
workflow systems, we enable consumers and small businesses to create a range of
legal documents such as Wills, divorce, employment agreements and identity theft
resolution over the web, using a CD-ROM, and now by telephone.
Our customers include the likes of Royal & SunAlliance (MORE TH>N), Halifax,
Natwest, Royal Bank of Scotland and leading UK law firms.
Responsibilities & Tasks
To help maintain the codebase for the Epoq Legal Engine (ELE), including bug
fixing and optimisation.
To develop new Coldfusion components for ELE as required.
To adequately document all code.
To design and document solutions within ELE.
To assist the Head of Web Development in designing and documenting solutions and
developing Coldfusion components.
To assist Project Managers in planning tasks and estimating the duration of work.
To ensure effective communication with staff at all levels.
To ensure components are adequately tested before they enter beta phase.
Any other duties requested from time to time by the Head of Web Development.
Technical skills
ColdFusion (MachII, ColdSpring), 5+ years experience preferred:
Advanced knowledge of Coldfusion essential (esp. CFCs), at least to version 7.
Knowledge of version 8 is desirable.
Knowledge of frameworks highly desirable.
Experience of developing custom content management solutions is highly desirable.
Knowledge of web services advantageous.
SQL Server 2005, 4+ year’s experience of any SQL language preferred:
Solid knowledge of SQL essential (from any platform).
Knowledge of some advanced Microsoft T-SQL and SQL Server DBA functions are
advantageous.
Javascript (JQuery), 2+ year’s experience preferred:
A solid understanding of Javascript and experience of a Javascript framework is
essential.
Knowledge of advanced Javascript technologies are highly desirable (e.g. Ajax,
JSON, object-orientated coding).
HTML/CSS
Good appreciation of design and working knowledge of CSS is essential. However,
good design skills are not essential.
Essential competencies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under own initiative, including a pro-active approach to problem
solving.
Need for excellence and attention to detail.
Good problem solving skills.
A keen interest in web technologies is advantageous.
