Job Description :
Project Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs client for which this project falls under
focuses on web project management, enterprise web application administration,
requirements and process analysis, integrated project scheduling, documentation,
and web application and database support services across all VA organizations,
working to provide web operational support throughout the enterprise. This
VA-wide support includes coordination and support for all of VAs intranet and
Internet web activities. Our client's organization has produced and maintained an
extensive set of web applications, supporting databases, web services, and
enterprise-wide, web-related systems that allow the VA to connect with and
support its customers, Americas Veteran population. These applications range from
internal tools used by VA employees to request, create, and manage their
individual organizational web sites (including Request Tracking Tool, Web
Registry, Web Request, and VAs eCMS Interwoven Team Site), to Veteran-facing web
applications, such as the Inquiry Routing and Information System (IRIS), VAs main
Internet site, and the Facilities and Leadership Directory.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:
•Candidates will participate in the full system development lifecycle for
application development needs. Specific responsibilities include design and
development activities, web services development and maintenance, supporting
testing activities and cooperating with project teams to support production
operations.
•Ideal candidates will possess 8+ years of ColdFusion development experience,
including experience in Design, development, integration and deployment CF
applications. Additionally, ideal candidate will provide a mix of development
experience (ColdFusion, Flash, web development technologies) and database
development and administration experience (MS SQL Server)
•Familiarity with ColdFusion frameworks
•Understanding of Web development practices, the software development life cycle,
and development in accordance with industry best practices Proficiency with
version control systems
•Possess a wide range of knowledge of programming and server software operations.
•Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in a technical discipline and
5-7+ years of experience.
•Must have at least seven (7) years of experience working in enterprise software
development projects within close knit project teams serving in an environment
with tasks of similar scope, complexity, and technical difficulty.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•New development and support for a variety of ColdFusion websites and web-based
applications
•Perform Cold Fusion and SQL database development of CF-based Web applications
and back-end databases.
•Provide Web Services Maintenance support
•Create and maintain Web front-end user interface to new or existing databases
using a combination of Coldfusion, SQL, .NET, ASP or other languages to make
business applications accessible.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
•Familiarity with Agile (Scrum and/or Extreme) Development Methodology a plus
•Experience working in CMMI Level 3 and above environments is also a plus.
•Section 508 Experience is a plus
•Prior experience working on projects with multiple external contractors and
external data sources / interfaces a plus Experience working in the Department of
Veterans Affairs is a plus
•Willingness to support technical documentation tasks
