I would be interested to know if Dave did manage to make the 64-bit version of CF
work on his Ubuntu server. I've been trying to do the same thing, but on the
Ubuntu server V6.06. The installation was fine, but the server won't start.
Nothing is written to error logs apart from the syslog:
kernel: [31902.201986] coldfusion8[12692] trap divide error rip:2aaaaaab290e
rsp:7fffff9f0df0 error:0

You should hit the casinos. You were right and that fixed the problem. I knew
CF8 was available for x64 systems but I figured since I didn't see any downloads
that expressly said x64 that the installer figured out what architecture it was
being installed on. Thanks!

If I were a betting man I would say you are trying to install 32 bit CF8 onto a
64 bit linux server.
You might want to just install the new ColdFusion 8.1 Release Candidate that has
just posted on http://prerelease.adobe.com. You will need to sign up to be
part of the pre-release. But CF8.1 does have a 64 bit linux version. Ubuntu is
still not an offically supported release, however. But, you could give it a try.

I can't seem to make this work. I have a clean installation of Ubuntu Server
7.10, I installed apache2 and sun-java6-jre and I downloaded and ran
Coldfusion-8-lin.bin but every time it gives me this:
Launching installer...
exec: 2481: /tmp/install.dir.7382/Linux/resource/jre/bin/java: not found
I've tried to install it on Ubuntu Desktop as well with the same results. What
am I missing? I've been Googling it but everything I've found starts out saying
to run the bin file and says nothing about what needs to be done to get the
system ready to run it. Thanks for any advice!
