One of our developers is encountering a problem with the developer version of ColdFusion 5.0 that came with ColdFusion Studio.  I know that after 30 days, it becomes a single IP version.  The problem is that he is working on site, and as he moves his laptop from place to place on the client's network, it apparently adjusts the IP address of the laptop which causes ColdFusion to put up the following message: "Access is Restricted to this ColdFusion Service. The evaluation license for this copy of Macromedia ColdFusion has expired. The ColdFusion server is currently configured to accept requests exclusively from IP address 182.168.4.120. (Your request was made from 127.0.0.1.) The ColdFusion engine must be stopped and restarted to reset the permitted IP address. " How do we resolve this? Is there a way to set it so that it only expects requests from 127.0.0.1 so this message won't come up anymore? Thank you. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! The single IP is picked up from the first client that hits the ColdFusion server installtion -- I certainly know what you're talking about :) I just set the homepage (or a bookmark or whatever) in the browser to http://127.0.0.1/cfide/administrator/index.cfm (or some other CF page) and make sure I hit it first. If someone else hits it first, all you have to do is restart the CF App Server service and hit it with the browser to "reset" everything. If you're in a Win domain, and you're using "mycomputer" or whatever name instead of the ip address, NetBIOS and DHCP will continue to lock you down inbetween moves. Another solution, which sucks, is to reboot everytime you move. Or you can get a DevNet subscription or have your company become a Macromedia Development Partner and get development licenses for enterprise. Not a cheap solution, but then, esp w/ DevNet, you can have other folks on site hit the server as well for demo purposes. With CF 5, you'd use the functionality of your web server to listen only on 127.0.0.1. This is easily accomplished in both IIS and Apache. I would recommend that you do this anyway, if you don't intend for others to browse your development web server. Dave, Thank you for your response.  Can you elaborate on how to do this with IIS? Also, from talking to the developer more, I've found I didn't quite describe the problem exactly right.  He hasn't been on our home network in quite a while, but it turns out, the IP Address it is locked to is a non-routable IP Address on our home network, not one at our client's office.  I find this bizarre since there is no way his laptop is being hit by anything on our home network when he's outside the office.   Thanks again --- Dave Watts <dwatts@figleaf.com> wrote: ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Open the IIS management console, right-click on the virtual server in question ("Default Web Site" by, uh, default), select "Properties", go to the "Web Site" tab, and enter 127.0.0.1 in the "IP Address" field. ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- There are all kinds of wacky things that happen with DHCP and laptops, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
