If you control you own mail server - we can provide an anti-spam and anti-virus Doug White 05/18/2004 12:32 PM

One of the reasons you are being spammed is the way the list broadcasts Robertson-Ravo, Neil (RX) 05/18/2004 12:01 PM
This is off the subject of CF but maybe someone has a solution. Monique Boea 05/18/2004 11:56 AM

Author: Pete Ruckelshaus - CFList Short Link: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:32578#163559 I do several things.  None of them are foolproof, but they work quite well together; I see perhaps 5 pieces of spam per week. First, I have 3 email addresses (more or less).  I have a personal email address, which I only give to close friends and relatives.  Second, I have a Yahoo mail account, which I use for other people.  Finally, I have a Hotmail account that I give to people that I know are going to spam me. Next, my primary email address has "_nospam" in it; i.e., bob_nospam@wherever.com  Address harvesters (some of them, at least) will delete the "_nospam" part, which gets sent to a holding account, "bob" Next, I use spam-filtering and antivirus software.  For spam-filtering, I swear by CloudMark SpamNet, it does a great job.  It's Windows/Outlook specific, though I think they came out with a version for OE.  For antivirus, I use Norton AntiVirus with nightly virus definition update checks and real-time scanning in conjunction with full scans every night. Finally, my ISP has antispam and antivirus controls, and I set them to send suspected spam to a holding account which I check about once a week. It really is a pity that we have to go through these hoops just to avoid the "P--is too small?" emails. Pete Monique Boea wrote: ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----
