Cfgrid Javascript function not working if not put inside <hea d></head> tags

I'm not sure what you mean by "make [it] dynamic". Your function will need to be declared before it's invoked. If you simply need to write the function using CF before delivering it to the browser, you can use the CFHTMLHEAD tag to place the output that creates the function in the document HEAD.
