I created an EAR of the original. Then I created a new instance using the EAR on the new server. Everything is great up until I try to set up the site in IIS on Win 2003. It worked once but but now I keep getting the message "Either the Macromedia application server(s) are unreachable or none of them has a mapping to process this request." I've checked the CF services and they are running. I checked the settings in IIS and they look to be pointing to the right jrun. Any suggestions? I've had this happen in the past but cant remember what I did to fix it. Thanks Phil If you copy/paste that error message into Google you will find the answer to your question. -Mike Chabot On Thu, Feb 4, 2010 at 5:17 PM, Phillip B <philthylabwrk@gmail.com> wrote: ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- Thanks Mike but I tried that. I'm surprised that none of the ideas found using Google helped. Which suggestions have you tried so far? -Mike Chabot Thanks Mike. I've checked to make sure the Application extensions are set correctly in IIS. I also made sure the wildcard application mapping was set to the correct jrun. I even tried pointing it to the one I know works and still doesn't help. I have also gone over every config and xml file I can find and only found one problem. It was pointing to the directory of the old server. I've made sure all the jrun instances are running. Even restarting them after making changes. Even rebooted a few times just to be on the safe side. All instances of CF are running as Local System. Made sure the "Execute permissions" in IIS for the site is set to Scripts only. Even created its own application pool in iis. UGH!!! I just tried to load the primary instance of CF and its now giving me the same error. Good thing this is just a VM on my laptop. I guess I will need to just reinstall ColdFusion and see what that does. This sort of thing really upsets me about CF. I can't afford to have this happen on a production server. >The answer I would have suggested was the same as what other people >have already written, so it didn't seem logical to retype it. Did you enable the built-in webserver? Does that work? If not, can you enable it (jrun.xml) and try it? 2. Use netstat -ano to see which ports are used by JRun. Can you manually connect to those from telnet? 3. What is in your cfusion-out.log? Jochem -- Jochem van Dieten http://jochem.vandieten.net/ Hi Jochem The cfusionout.log has this 02/05 11:03:14 Warning [jrpp-0] - GetProfileString: coldfusion.util.IniUtils$InvalidIniPathException: The system cannot find the path specified: C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\db\slserver54\cfg\swandm.ini Not sure what is going on with that. I thought the default was to use the built-in web server. I cant find the XML node in the file to check. I used netstat -ano but wasn't sure what to look for. All instances are hitting IP 0.0.0.0 and ports 1081, 1090, 1659, 2522, 2908, 2910, 6085, 8000, 8300, 8301, 51000, 51020. Most load a blank page, two just hang and one gives a 500 error. ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- > The cfusionout.log has this > 02/05 11:03:14 Warning [jrpp-0] - GetProfileString: coldfusion.util.IniUtils$InvalidIniPathException: The system cannot find the path specified: C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\db\slserver54\cfg\swandm.ini That is for the JDBC ODBC bridge. Are you using that? And does the -out.log for the new instance give the same error? > I used netstat -ano but wasn't sure what to look for. Most load a blank page, two just hang and one gives a 500 error. 8000 should be the JRun admin, 8300 the cfusion instance and 8301 the new instance you created. Did you set up the new instance with its own jvm.config file? If you didn't, could you do so? And then in the new jvm.config file make sure all references to the cfusion instance are replaced with references to your new instance so you don't have one instance loading classes from the directory path of another instance. Jochem -- Jochem van Dieten http://jochem.vandieten.net/ Thanks for the help Jochem. I'll give this a couple of tries. My first try botched up pretty bad. I've reinstalled CF so I can have a clean slate to work with. Phil ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- I tried using this as a ref http://www.placona.co.uk/blog/post.cfm/creating-new-coldfusion-8-instances-the-easy-way-appendix Didn't help me at all. Still can't get this going. I just don't understand what I could be doing wrong! Phil > Thanks for the help Jochem. > > I'll give this a couple of tries.
