ColdFusion Talk (CF-Talk)
Charles Proxy and ColdFusion 9
Author: Bill Franklin
Short Link: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:63871#350811
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with getting the SQLQuery information
in response header with Charles Proxy after upgrading to ColdFusion 9. It works
correctly on ColdFusion 8, with the exact same debugging settings, but although
the header comes shows up, it does not have any of the child objects in it. I
had thought that the JSON Serialization issue, that was fixed in ColdFusion 9.0.1
Hot Fix 2, would fix it...but alas, it did not.
TIA
Bill

Are you able to see the SQL Query calls in firebug w/ CF9 as the back-end?

No you wou;dn't be able to see that unless it was local dev and had
firebug detector installed.

Hence the use of Charles Proxy, which, up until ColdFusion 9, allowed us to see
the SQL Queries that were run inside the CFC calls...

I've used Charles before, but since it's an HTTP proxy, I don't see
how it would let you see the actual SQL queries being run unless the
CFC were outputting that information in some way. If that's what you
need, you can use CF's own logging facility and not use any proxy at
all. If you're testing AJAX functionality, you can use CF's JavaScript
API to output items to the AJAX debug output window directly. You can
also output items to the regular JavaScript console, which will show
up in Firebug.

Actually, we don't output anything...ColdFusion handles it automatically for you.
All we do is enable debugging output in CF Administrator

Do you have the option to output query information checked as well?

Also, I suspect that this might not work in CF 9 because having CFCs
return something other than the specific output format of the CFC
method result (JSON, XML, etc) could easily break the client.

I think the key problem here, is that ColdFusion 9 is returning the CFMLDebugger
class, instead of the AMFDebugger class...perhaps a channel configuration
issue???
