I can't seem to find a IIS7+Tomcat install guide (except for when Plesk is installed, which I don't need). Would someone please point me to a non-Plesk guide? Also is there, from Railo, something similar to Adobe's server lock-down guide? -- Cheers! Michael David just download the Railo installer, this includes Tomcat. Would (very generally now...) going from CF to Railo carry the amount of baggage (differences) that going from, say IIS to Apache, carry? I mean, is the learning curve (differences in setup, I mean) quite steep? I'm used to CF on IIS and like it that way. I'm not so much an Apache, guy, although I've used it briefly and could do it. I've just got a lot of programming to do and don't have much time for setup issues. Thoughts? Thanks! The only thing you have to get used to is the having to add virtual hosts into tomcat for every site you add to IIS. There is a railo extension that will auto add ALL sites from IIS into toimcat, which is fine if ALL your sites are Railo sites, is not then it might be an issue. I found it crashed if you had a lot of sites. You can avoid all this hassle by using the Helicon Zoo module instead as per my previous post, as this uses Jetty and due to the per site JVM instance does not require virtual host setup.. I've had the experience of adding virtual hosts...even did that for localhosts in Windows... so, at least that part is familiar. This is no longer true, thanks to the mod_cfml project: http://www.modcfml.org/ mod_cfml works in conjunction with the BonCode Connector for IIS. Any sites that you have configured to have CFML files passed to Tomcat will get a context automatically created for them, so there is no longer a requirement to add them to the Tomcat server.xml file, although you still can if you want to. > There is a railo extension that will auto add ALL sites from IIS into > toimcat, which is fine if ALL your sites are Railo sites, is not then it > might be an issue. > I found it crashed if you had a lot of sites. While I can't speak for Paul, but I believe that extension is being retired due to the availability of mod_cfml. mod_cfml is included by default with the installers. -Jordan >>if your not using any CF specific features there is a good chance your site will work with no changes at all. Well, the problem is to know what is "CF specific", furthermore, I would prefer the term "Railo not CF compatible", since CF is the genuine CFML after all. I tried Railo once, and the problem was with de documention. It was almost unexisting and anyway did not specify what was working with CF and not supported by Railo. So how is the Railo documentation by now ? Well.by that i mean priortory stuff that adobe own and is thus ex CV lusive to cf. Flash forms and other flash related stuff for examples. Verity Actually have a look on cfmldeveloper.com i put up a comparison some time back, its a bit out of date now but should give u the idea. Would someone please point me to a > non-Plesk guide? Generally, I've found that alot of the best documentation and information about Railo is found on Blogs and Wikis. This means that occasionally you may run into something that feels a bit out of date, maybe because it is. If something you find feels that way, it probably is. Modify your Google search a bit and see if you can find something more up to date.... -Cameron -- Cameron Childress -- p: 678.637.5072 im: cameroncf facebook <http://www.facebook.com/cameroncf> | twitter<http://twitter.com/cameronc> | google+ <https://profiles.google.com/u/0/117829379451708140985> Hi Michael, Just go here: http://www.getrailo.org/index.cfm/download/ In the windows column, download the "Railo Server with Tomcat 7", double-click it, hit next a few times, done. With regards to IIS, the installer comes bundled with the BonCode Connector for IIS, which is a connector developed natively in .NET by a respected member of the OSS CFML community, Bilal Soylu. The connector hands off "CFML-specific" requests to Tomcat then Railo for processing, but IIS still handles static files such as images, CSS, javascript, etc. You can install the BonCode Connector either via the Railo installer or by itself, whichever you prefer. Documentation for the Installer is in the process of being moved to the GitHub wiki and subsequently updated for Railo 4, which is here: https://github.com/getrailo/railo/wiki Documentation for the BonCode Connector comes as a PDF when you download it. Need anything else? Lots of friendly folks both here and on the Railo list so just pipe up and ask. =) Hope this helps! -Jordan Well, its surprising (to me at least), but I am going to give Railo a try and see how it goes.
