The slow-down is specific to when the cursor is typing directly from
the left or right of an open angle bracket.

If you type a space after the open bracket prior to continuing to

Ya, i hear ya - even with a quad core it is painful. What I do is copy the code to NotePad++ and make the changes then copy back. Luckily I only have a few "large" files. NotePad++ is opensource, lightweight, powerfull and awesome:

CFEclipse _always_ folds , and (and possibly more codeblocks) without me telling it to. Regardless of what I set in Preferences:CFEclipse:code folding:initially collapse.

As many others I have also experienced how cfeclipse (or indeed eclipse?) slows down dramatically on large files (say 3-4000+ lines).

Has anyone found a workaround for this? (and no, rewriting the file is not an option)

That is why I said that with Eclipse 3.3 you need to have CFEClipse 1.3.1.5.
But the problem you are experiencing is a problem with CFEclipse 1.3.1.5.

So you will need to drop back to Eclipse 3.2, and CFEclipse 1.3.1.4 or

The bug you speak of is in Cfeclipse 1.3.1.5.

If you use Eclipse 3.3 (Needed to run under Vista) you need CFEclipse
1.3.1.5.

However Eclipse 3.2 & CFEclipse 1.3.1.4 and below are just as good, just
