I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. When I try to use the file explorer to look at a local drive I can see the root but I can't see any sub directories. It also prevents me from creating a local directory. Is it me or eclipse? Is there something I can do to make it work? Thanks

Eclipse 3.3 and the latest CFEclipse?  I've had the same problem, so I went back to my old 3.2 installation. Rob

I just moved back down to 3.2.2 and the problem persisted.  What steps did you take to get it working besides using 3.2.2? Thanks > Michael Dinowitz wrote: > > I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I am still waiting for line numbers to work when using RDS.  Even with the newer plug-in from Adobe from CF8, it still doesn't work, and fingers are being pointed at both Adobe and CFEclipse.  I'm not sure which one is at fault. Michael, The bug you speak of is in Cfeclipse 1.3.1.5. If you use Eclipse 3.3 (Needed to run under Vista) you need CFEclipse 1.3.1.5. However Eclipse 3.2 & CFEclipse 1.3.1.4 and below are just as good, just that there are a few nice features in the latest CFEclipse that you might not use that much anyway. As a seasoned CFStudio user, I would not use anything else and when I moved to CFEClipse I have not looked back. Here are the reasons I use CFEclipse. 1) A nifty IDE to begin with so this has to be top of the list 2) Many nice plugins that will save you a hundred plus hours of work. 3) Subversive plugin, using SVN and having the ability to control your SVN from the IDE and compare/merge etc is a god send. 4) Mylyn, a nice little plugin that integrates into most bug tracking software and allows you to view, add and control the time spent on a task and it is also integrated into SVN for backups. 5) Line Debugger, with Coldfusion 8 and FusionDebug also ends up saving me many hours of pulling my hair out looking for bugs. 6) Java IDE without switching to anything else, and yes I do a lot of CF and Java integration so this is the best choice for me. 7) TCP/IP monitor, so I can see what is being sent and received from the server. 8) Tomcat/JBoss and mnore integration, so I do not have to leave the IDE to browse the site on any Application Server and with the debugger and TCP/IP monitor a huge tool and time saver. 9) Crystal report plugin, so I cna design the reports in the IDE without switching applications. 10) UML editor plugins again no need to leave the IDE. 11) Ant tasks bultin, and being able to deploy/zip and numerous other things that Ant is good for too many to list here. 12) Greate Database tools via plugins 12) CFUnit integration and TDD environment that Homesite / Dreamweaver can't provide at the moment. I could go on and on... But this is about 20% of what I use on a daily basis that saves me more time than CFStudio / Homesite / Dreamweaver could ever give me in ROI. See, that's the strange thing. I'm using eclipse 3.3.0 and cfeclipse 1.3.1.5 and the error persists. The only reason I'm looking at moving is to be somewhere near what people consider cutting edge IDE wise. I've tricked out my homesite so it is cutting edge for me, but without Adobe actually upgrading it, the point is moot. ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----

That is why I said that with Eclipse 3.3 you need to have CFEClipse 1.3.1.5. But the problem you are experiencing is a problem with CFEclipse 1.3.1.5. So you will need to drop back to Eclipse 3.2, and CFEclipse 1.3.1.4 or lower. Which is what I said... Andrew Scott Senior Coldfusion Developer Aegeon Pty. Lemme chime back in here again... I just made a new post to the "other" CFEclipse (the Google Groups one) in response to somebody else having trouble with 3.3/1.3.1.5/Vista. I just got a new laptop today and it has Vista on it.  Knowing there were problems, I've been experimenting to see if I'm gonna keep Vista around or not.  I have pretty good news. I put on a completely fresh copy of Eclipse 3.3... in fact, here's the exact order that I did things: - Downloaded 100% fresh copy of Europa, unzipped to c:\apps\eclipse - Ran eclipse (using Java 1.6.0) - Ran Updates from Help > Software updates and got the latest eclipse patches; restarted eclipse - Added the CF8 plug-ins via Archived Site and pointing to the Zip file I got from the Adobe site; restarted eclipse. - Added the CFEclipse remote site and installed 1.3.1.5; restarted eclipse. I have nothing else installed in eclipse except what's listed above. With it this way, File Explorer doesn't work, just as you described. Very annoying.  BUT... Projects work just fine if you don't mind using those.  AND, with the new CF8 plug-ins from Adobe, RDS works and line numbers are in fact working now.  I was very surprised (and pleased) to discover that. I hope this is at least somewhat helpful... Rob

And what JVM is Eclipse using? I have seen that same problem with an incorrect JVM that is not supported by Eclipse 3.3. ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----
