ColdFusion Server Administration info

CFUnited in D.C. was my 2nd conference, I was also down in Anaheim last October for the MAX Convention.  I did have a good time at the conference but find myself getting frustrated.   I support CF web servers for a large group of Developers, the company I work for provides hosting for the coldfusion sites and I focus primarily on Coldfusion Server setup and Administration.  So, not being a developer I tend to learn code and development methods by working directly with the developers and they teach me as we go.   I learn what they are trying to do then work the server administration side to make it work for them.  I am always looking for sessions or people who work primarily on the server side but there isnt a lot of information out there.  I was lucky enough to catch two sessions, both on Saturday, which focused alot on CF Administration and security issues.   I did chat with Mike and Judith both for a few minutes at the House Of Fusion Booth and in passing, discussed whether ther e was a market for this type of information.  I think, judgeing from the folks in the Saturday sessions and the people I work with daily, that there is a need for this, especially with CF7 since it is SOO different than previous versions.   I did give Judith my email address while I was there but you guys probably have a TON of those huh?  I'd like to get resources that might be out there that I dont know about that you do..  also, maybe just some tips and tricks kinda stuff?  Do you know of any resources you could point me to or should I just start writing what I know already and post it and go from there?

I was actually lucky enough to run across all this at the conference which will help alot, so Im going to go dig around in all the cf mailing lists to see what I can find.  Sometimes, its just a matter of finding the right people and lists to dig thru, so I may have hit a goldmine here!  And yes, you would think that cf server would be pretty simple if you arent doing clustering etc.. but I've found that because we host a lot (and I mean ALOT) of sites per server, most all of the issues I run into are performance and load issues,(of course), usually ends up being code related and they re-write, pretty standard stuff. There are occasional JRun issues, which always throw me. Now that 7 is loaded on top of jrun4 there is the seperate instances Im trying to learn and setup, its alot different than 6.   That is the big issue now, how many instances can one server handle, (we have 4 gig of ram so in theory it should be able to do 3 without too much of a problem 1.5 per instance..) how man y sites can an instance handle, etc.. or should I even be creating multiple instances in Jrun?   Its when a developer wants to add class files or do war deployment then the fun begins.  I got alot of good information about the jrun.config files, etc.  Im going to also look into some of the load testing software that is out there, one mentioned was OpenSTA which allows scripting for load testing.  and learn up on the performance options that I can set in the config files.  I'll check cftalk too!  thanks for the reply..
