Reasons for app preloader not appearing

Can anyone suggest reasons for the application preloader not working? I've set usePreloader="true" in the app tag but still it doesn't appear. Would it have something to do with the way I'm compiling the app? Nothing stands out in FB. Using Flex 3. Thanks.

the preloader should show by itself, even without you telling it to. Not sure what could cause it not to show - a small project size maybe? Thanks Stefan and Peter. I worked out that the preloader is appearing, but it's off stage. The client gets to change the size of the movie when embedding it so I was hoping the preloader would center itself accordingly. Any ideas on how to maybe force the preloader to center according to embed with and height? Cheers.
