I have a php script that is running every 5 seconds to update a database value.   What I would like to do without a timer is in the flex client receive an event trigger for each time the php script finishes.   Is this possible to have the client listen for a php script result when it didn't initiate the script originally?

In ColdFusion you could use an Event Gateway to ping Blaze or LCDS. I don't know if there is PHP support for talking to either, but if so, that would work. > > I have a php script that is running every 5 seconds to update a database value.  What I would like to do without a timer is in the flex client receive an event trigger for each time the php script finishes.   Is this possible to have the client listen for a php script result when it didn't initiate the script originally?

This isn't a CF app - strictly PHP.   Any other ideas?  Appreciate the quick feedback!

As I said - check out Blaze/LCDS. I believe there are examples of PHP using them. > > This isn't a CF app - strictly PHP.   Any other ideas?  Appreciate the quick feedback!

Thanks.   Now that I have my thinking going - I use MAMP which I'm sure plays into the solution.  Thoughts?   I do not have BlazeDS or LCDS available to me.

Errr - get BlazeDS? You say it's not available, but Blaze is free. Just download it. :) > > Thanks.   Now that I have my thinking going - I use MAMP which I'm sure plays into the solution.  Thoughts?   I do not have BlazeDS or LCDS available to me.
