To really sell these as features of He3 I think they should be more integration. 1. Use the current document and/or the current selection as "Search text" and "XML Document". Particularly when the document has a cfxml tag. 2. Provide a way to paste the expression to the document automatically as a REFind, REReplace, etc. or XmlSearch function. 3. Have quick links in both to reference files for both XPath and Regex. Should open in a new tab on the right since these documents require a lot of space to view. Not to speak for RichPalette but I'm guessing these features will become tightly integrated as they move through the beta period... Those are excellent suggestions. BTW, you have mentioned Both XmlSpy and VS.NET having result panes you like.
