Further, it only affected files of types He3 (or any 3rd party plugin for that matter) extended Eclipse to support. This bug was fixed in He3 0.7.4 for which an update was made available a while ago. Additionally, I have submitted a patch to Eclipse to fix this issue. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=58179. Finally, since this bug also affects CFEclipse, I went ahead and submitted a patch to them as well. See http://cfeclipse.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=164. I don't know if or when the CFEclipse project will incorporate my patch, but for those of you who are using CFEclipse with He3 I'd thought I would share this. -Matt ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- Thanks Matt, I have already tested your patch and incorporated it into the CVS sources. It will be in the next cfeclipse release for anyone who wants it, or you can download and build from the CVS sources if you prefer. I was wondering why you submitted it to us, but I think you've answered my question :) Much appreciated. Spike Spike, We discussed the matter of sharing the solution to this bug even before my post to cf-talk - when things were especially tense - and we decided to do so. Much as I stated on the cf-talk list, there is little reason for us (the He3 and the CFE teams) to be so hostile. Both projects share some of the same goals but not all of them. It does not benefit the community for us to be negative with each other. A bug should not be a competative point - it doesn't serve anyone in the community. rish ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- I am in full agreement with this, but it is not so clear cut with the rest of the team as should be obvious from the posts to CF Talk. I believe it benefits both the CF community and our respective projects if we are mutually supportive where we can be. Where we can't be mutually supportive I don't see any benefit to either side in mud slinging. I hope, and believe, I have maintained this attitude since He3 was announced. If it has appeared otherwise that certainly was never my intention. Regards Spike p.s. We might want to challenge you guys to a game of Unreal Tournament or something similar if you're interested :) -------------------------------------------- Stephen Milligan Code poet for hire http://www.spike.org.uk Do you cfeclipse? http://cfeclipse.tigris.org ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- Spike, A Tournament match would be pretty rockin'! Unfortunately I had to uninstall the game - it was becoming a danger to my productivity in a serious way - especially when I started digging into scripting bots and such. Almost two weeks of getting pretty much nothing done... I really got interested after reading an interview with Tim Sweeney (back in Jan 2000) where he talked about parametric polymorphic types - I really got excited and started digging into UnrealScript pretty heavily. I think you guys might have better numbers on us though (we're two and a half people). It's a good suggestion all the same, it would definitely provide a different vent. rish ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- Glad you like the idea. I discussed it with Ollie a week or so back as a potential way to defuse the tension that had built up. He was pretty keen. There are in fact only 3 of us who regularly do development on CFEclipse and I'd be like the proverbial cannon fodder most likely, so that would make it about evens I reckon. We could of course open it up to the people who use the products and have a full blown tournament, but I think somewhere around 5 or 6 per side would probably work best. That reduces the liklihood of one on one agenda battles dominating the game if there were just 3 on each side, and with more than about 10 on each side I'd probably be spending a lot of time getting blown away just as I figured out where it was I'd reappeared after the last frag :) In either case, think it over we'll see if we can get a time and date sorted out. Spike ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- Spike wrote: ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more ----- Don't worry Spike, I discovered last weekend that - much to my chargin - my paintballing skills are nowhere near as good as my UT skills. So there may be hope for the CFE team yet. > In either case, think it over we'll see if we can get a time and date sorted > out. Gonna be interesting for yours truly due to time differences. Hey ho, anything for a good UT match. Oliver.
