Hi. Are there any plans to add a datasource view (like CF Studio / Homesite) to He3 as this is a very useful feature. Thanks Andrew.

Andrew, I presume that you are referring to database functionality specifically related to the datasources configured in the ColdFusion Administrator as opposed to generic database tools, yes? We are investigating both but we'll likely have functional generic database tools first. rish ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----

No, I refering to the RDS datasource viewing that lets you see the databases, table and fields and drag and drop the field name and stuff into your code. Andrew. Andrew, We have talked with Macromedia about it and they have stated that the RDS spec is a piece of IP that they are not willing to share and to emphasize the point they took care to remind us that it was protected by the DCMA. There will be no RDS functionality in He3 or any other non-Macromedia tool. rish ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----

This weekend at the Fusebox conference Matt and I showed a database explorer that's currently in development for a beta of He3. You'd have to set the datasource up twice (once in CF, once in He3) but you'd be able to see all those things you listed. -- Howard Fore, howard.fore@gmail.com Wounderful. How nice it is to share. Andrew, I'm sorry to be vague about the matter, it isn't intended to annoy you. We haven't determined a timeframe for beta 2 yet but the feature list for beta 2 is starting to finalize itself.  Baking some of the features that we showed at the Fusebox conference last weekend (wireframing, the database functionality, the browser view, the parser, etc) to a more mature status and addressing other aspects of our product (like a multiplatform installer) are quite demanding.  Failing to get them right and stable... The answer: relatively soon. We're equally eager to put this stuff in your hands. We're also trying to make the product stable enough so as to not disappoint. rish ----- Excess quoted text cut - see Original Post for more -----

Guy. Thanks for the information. If you would like a hand testing to help get it more stable and to find bugs I would be more than help to assist, all I do all day is code CF so it would be well used and I have had enough of Dreamweaver to last me life time so it would have to go a long way to disappoint!!!!!
