Error for ontap

I'm running CF 5.0 under IIS 5.0 on XP Professional. I had read somewhere that the OnTap framework was backwards compatible, but I'm guessing not THAT backward... Tried anyway and stepping through with debugger, it gets to the GetPath custom tag before erroring out. No output constructed at that point. Seems to choke on ".exists" at line 24 with a syntax error. I tried loading the core, then the core plus plug-in manager to see if the additional code overwrites would change the behavior, but no change that I can detect. I've tried loading to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ontap and C:\ontap with mapping in IIS to create the virtual directory "ontap". In the debugger I get to 300_requirements.cfm as I remember... I'm locked into CF 5 for a current project (not OnTap related), if later is required, I'll scrape off some hard drive space and create a virtual machine so I can have more than one CF version running... Help?
