Modifiers
Modifiers and Multipliers
- modifiers will alter the number of times a character, set or sub expression will be applied.
- one or more - a plus (+) will allow of one or more of the previous character, set or collection
- wil+ = wil, will, willl, willlllll
- zero or more - an asterisk (*) will allow for zero or more of the previous character, set or collection
- wil* = wi, wil, willl, willlll
- wi.* = wi, wix, widsw, wifhghhv
- exists or not - a question mark (?) means that the previous character may or may not exist.
- wil? = wil or wi
- wil?t = wilt or wit
- strict number ranges - to define a strict number range you use curly braces({})
- {single number}
- {min amount, max amount}
- Modifiers are GREEDY and will match everything they can. Use a ? after each modifier to make it match as little as it can.
